A. Lincoln and Suffering

During the Civil War there is no doubt Lincoln suffered immensely! The pain this poor president endured is really up for conjecture.

That said, any time, and I mean any and all the time, when Lincoln came across a chance to do a good deed for anyone how small or large he did it. I think he did it for two reasons. One was that it was a God given Gift. Second, because Lincoln knew it would in some way, directly or indirectly, remove or stop any suffering the pain the person he helped was or would have. It also gave Lincoln a modicum of peace and goodwill which might decrease his suffering if only for a moment.
