The Men (A Lincoln and Two Fords)

I have written many articles on the automobile industry. Now it's time to write about something else.

A. Lincoln, Gerald Ford, and Edsel Ford all had similar qualities. The most pronounced was their benevolence. What was better for the others, not themselves. This is what made them great. And they were all most capable.

Lincoln's achievements are known (some no, but many yes). Gerald Ford's are known to a degree (now that it is thirty years since his presidency, the "light" of his presidency has come out). Pardoning Nixon was a completely selfless act. He inherited many problems and dealt with them succinctly and always with dignity.

But Edsel Ford's accomplishments are not known by the general public. All I want to say about this man is that he died for what he believed. And what he believed was to make an excellent car, and doing what was best for Ford Motor. If he had full reign of Ford Motor (as he should have) Ford would be flourishing now. There wasn't any seconds for Edsel. The best is what he wanted and his underlings were willing to do it for him, because he was so decent. His best showed in the car designs of Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln in the 1930's. There are other magnanamous qualities of Edsel, that showed real character. I have written about Edsel in the past, though, and one can read some of them in my past articles to understand more about this great man.
